Tupac lives!
In music, books & the internet

Someone said there was enough unreleased Tupac Shakur music in the vaults to keep him on the charts for the next 20 years. Well, we don't know if that's an exaggeration or not, but the music keeps coming. Most recently Until The End Of Time, put out by Amaru/Death Row Records has two previously unreleased tracks of Tupac's on it. And we have the feeling there's more to come. Is this music that Tupac would not have wanted released because he felt it wasn't his best? Who knows? The fans just want more, more, more from Tupac and there are people with keys to the vaults that will turn it out. And we know that even Tupac's worst is better than most. Tupac also lives on in books about his life. Exbodyguard Frank Alexander gave us Got Your Back: My Life In Tupac's Last Year. It's an insider's account of his day-to-day life, but it also shows the human side of Tupac the man, not the star. And yes, Freak Alexander feels a little guilt on not being able to protect Tupac in Las Vegas, but after how it all went down, no one could have. The Killing of Tupac Shakur by Cathy Scott is another book that asks the questions: Who did it and why? It delves into all the issues like the Blood/Crips connection, the killing of The Notorious B.I.G., the rap wars, etc. It leaves you wondering if we will ever know who murdered Tupac. Then there's the internet where Tupac lives on dot com. Go to any search engine, type his name in and you can find literally hundreds of websites, some home pages in tribute to the man, others who call themselves official fan clubs and many, many stories that have been written through the years about the man who is just as famous in death as he was in life. So, six years later, Tupac Shakur still lives in music, in books and on the internet. And perhaps in another place far more important, Tupac lives in the hearts and minds of many fans who choose to remember only the good from the man whose life was troubled, yet he created so much. Rest in peace, Tupac Amaru Shakur.
