The legend continues

Tupac Amaru Shakur quickly conquered the rap world, revolutionizing rap and bringing the Thug Life culture to the forefront. He inspired a lot of controversy with his lyrics, but most of all he inspired many young people to work hard and try to accomplish their artistic dreams. Everything happened quickly for Tupac. He made it to the top of the rap game and then started to focus on acting in just a few short years. However, his time ran out when he was only 25 years of age. The mystery behind his tragic Las Vegas drive-by shooting assassination remains unsolved to this day. With the death of Tupac Amaru Shakur, Thug Life could easily have become a legend of the past. However, the legacy is alive and strong today in part because of the courage of one woman who was very close to the legendary rapper-- his mother, Afeni Shakur. This brave woman has fought to ensure that Tupac's voice is heard for many generations to come. She has devoted much of her time to carrying out the visions that her son was tragically unable to accomplish. Afeni has been able to immor-talize her son by accomplishing unprecedented feats. Since his death in 1996, more than 18 million copies of Tupac's albums have been sold. To the astonishment of everyone in the music industry, Tupac's posthumous releases have been at the top of the charts-- far above the competition. Just before Tupac died, he was developing a strong interest in acting. He starred in several movies and said that acting was his new passion because he could focus on the art instead of all the controversy and politics associated with rap. While Tupac was in prison he wrote a movie which Afeni is currently working to have made.
